Resource Guide

  • Water Cycle Experiment

    • Follow instructions on Print Out

  • Make a Cloud in a Jar Experiment

    • Follow instructions on Print Out

  • Seasons Ring

    • This involves a bit of prep by the adult. Cut out strips of colored circles. Reference the master list of months and arrange beads in this order: December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November. You can use tape or paper brads to arrange the strips into a circle. 

    • Cut seasons labels, month labels and tickets. 

    • Show child how to find the right circle that represents their birthday, today, tomorrow and yesterday. 

    • Explain how there are four seasons, three months within each season and certain number of days within each month. For example, to find May 23rd, you would go to the segment of circles that represent May and count 23 circles in and place ticket. Reference my Seasons Ring highlight on instagram for a visual. 

  • Weather Chart

    • This is a week long and possibly a 4 week long work. Child can cut weather symbols out and organize in bowls or baskets. Hang chart on the wall, each morning child can label the days weather to see the pattern on weather. 

  • Types of Cloud Booklet

    • Reference master, child can color and trace names of clouds. 

  • Weather Scavenger Hunt

    • Print and cut large labels - hide around your environment. 

    • Offer child student sheet, clipboard and pencil - have child find large labels and copy words. If your child isn’t writing letters yet, you can show them how to check things off. 

  • Read/Draw/Write

    • Child practices reading phonetic sentences and draws underlined words. Child can think up their own sentences to write and illustrate on the blank sheet. 

  • Dime Cards

    • Cut cards, show child how each dime is equal to a ten bar. They can skip count by tens and write how much each card is worth. 

  • Coin Cards

    • Using the ten bars, 5 bars and 1 beads, child can find corresponding quantity of the coins on each card. The child can count up how many beads there are and write in the value of the coins.
