About Me

I’m Marissa - an AMS Trained teacher entering my 15th year in the classroom - I am a sewer, a knitter, a wardrobe-maker, an art school grad, a city lover, a country lover, a wife and a mama. I have an incredible need to make things with my hands, to teach children how to do the same and make my classroom feel like home. I am forever integrating handmade materials into my traditional Montessori classroom and am always on the lookout for new ideas and people to collaborate with. I wanted an information venue, so I created this site so that it can be a time capsule of information for myself and others. Please enjoy!

A modern Montessori Material.

It all started with the farm. We wanted a farm in the classroom so that we could practice parts of speech but just didn’t have the space. A farm that lived on the shelf would be nice. Here comes The Farm Mat. Since then, we have made Alphabet Mats, Cards & Counter Mats, Movable Alphabet Mats, Land and Water Mapping Mats, Land, Air and Water Mats, Color Sorting Mats, Solar System Mats with more to come. They are printed on high quality cotton/linen canvas and backed with 7oz. duck canvas. Hand sewn and shipped by our one-woman army.
